Having used GotoMeeting AND GotoWebinar for years I find DimDim performs better, has an easier to use interface for end users and that's made a huge difference in my sales.

I’m new in the webinar communications and though I’ve used gotowebinar a bit, I don’t have much knowledge. I’m happy to hear about dimdim and will play around with the free version to see what its like :)

Dim Dim is a very nice web conference platform. I enjoyed playing with it and found it very intuitive. It is a very nice free solution for basic web conferencing needs. However, there is key functionality that sets Cisco WebEx apart. Cisco WebEx has multiple platforms specifically built to support the type of web conference session offered. These additional features are what keeps Cisco WebEx in the top right corner of Gartner’s Magic Quadrant. Items such as: hybrid audio (VOIP & telephony), robust registration options, as well as center specific features: testing (Training Center), audio broadcast (Event Center), etc. Full disclosure: I work for Cisco WebEx, so of course, I know all the capabilities of the products. :)

I always get a kick out of my client and business partner’s reactions when I ask them to join “dimdim”. then they realize how amazing their software is and wonder why they use webmeeting.

Glad to see more improvements, can’t wait to try it out.

David – we think we’re new and innovative – here is a shortlist:

1. We’re FREE!
2. Nothing to install to host, attend or even record sessions
3. We have embeddable recordings & registration widgets
4. We run entirely in the browser
5. We’re FREE!

I repeat the first one because our Dimdim Free product does more than GoToMeeting’s paid product (20 vs 15 attendees, Webcam and Web page co-browsing)

Talked to a sales rep at Dimdim. The app is “competitively” priced but so far no real compelling value proposition over GotoWebinar either in price or functionality.

Hopefully they’ll do something new and innovative, or figure out how to really compete on price. The “Open source” tag isn’t worth a whole lot on it’s own.

Thanks for writing about our Dimdim Webinar launch. We’re very excited to bring large scale webinars to more people. Some of our customers were clear that they liked using Dimdim for their webinars, but 100 attendees were too few, and a dedicated Dimdim Enterprise was more than they needed.
