This is a great article but I’m really sad to see it start with “Though the demise of Portland, Ore.’s Cubespace coworking community represents a sad development in the nascent history of coworking…”

I’d like to show this to some local real estate developers regarding coworking but knowing how they think they won’t read past that first sentence and will most probably decree that coworking won’t work because of that one failed endeavor all the while not realizing that they had unique circumstances.

While I am very sad about CubeSpace, they were only one of several existing coworking spaces in Portland, OR. Souk and NedSpace are probably the 2 biggest ones downtown, and I think we might have others out in the suburbs.

I’m pleased to say that – in the short span between our chat and post publication – cowo coworkings in Italy have become 11, reaching the city of Naples as well.

Please keep on covering coworking, I look forward to future contributions by you and the WWD community.

Coworking for us is something truly experimental, and – despite the experience we are doing day after day with Cowo spaces – any idea on future development and business implementation is welcome.

As to our model, I’ve heard that Patrick Tanguay is considering it in order to develop Montreal’s Station-C network in Québec, and I exchanged views on this with Tony Bacigalupo as well.

Hope the conversation will evolve.
