Okay...really, I hope last update. So, we recently launched our licensing program. Entrepreneurs can open their own Cubes&Crayons with the knowledge of our learning and the support of us behind their adventures. Lots of good candidates already, so start looking for Cubes&Crayons popping up in your neighborhood.

Quick update…Cubes&Crayons opening in SF on June 1st. The office space rocks and is on the top floor. It is completely separate from the kid space so perfect for coworkers with and without kids. The kid space is huge and fun! Our childcare staff have early childhood education backgrounds in both education and practice. They are great. Come meet them with your kids aged 6 weeks to 7 years. And if you don’t have kids, drop in and cowork with others in Potrero Hill. Members include entrepreneurs, designers, freelancers and grad students.

This is interesting because my sister-in-law is pregnant but wants to go right back to work after having the baby. She wasn’t sure how she was going to handle childcare, and her boss turned around and told her not to worry about it.

Instead the office adjacent to her that is currently empty is going to be used as an at work nursery…Perhaps corporate America is finally accepting the mix of family and the professional life.

Just as a FYI our childcare providers hold BS in early childhood education. Most daycare centers or drop-in (which don’t require licensing) only require 6 – 12 Early childhood education units and do not require a college degree.

I’m not sure how anyone could see childcare as an unnecessary overhead. That is unless they believe their children don’t deserve their undivided attention.

Cubes & Crayons looks interesting but I think I prefer to ensure that my children are getting proper care from a qualified professional vs. someone who just happens to be sharing the same workspace as me.

All I can say is you get it! You are right on track. Thanks for noticing all the work we are doing at Cubes&Crayons. We hope to make it a better work world for parents with young children by letting them cowork and kids “coplay.” Everyone should have their cake and eat it, too.
