Make a Facebook Page for Your Small Business
![]()
Facebook has two types of pages. The first is Facebook Pages, which allow public figures, businesses, or brands a space to share information, interact with their fans and create an interactive forum on Facebook. The other, Groups, focus less on a person, brand or business and more on a shared interest. Unlike Pages, Groups have a 5000-member limit. Pages can tie in with your account or brand, while Groups stand alone. Facebook Pages tend to work better for businesses while Groups do well for non-profits, interests and causes.
While Pages would seem to be the better option for most businesses, they’re really geared toward well-known brands. In this post, I’m going to explain how a small or one-person business can create an effective Facebook Page.
Setting Up Your Page
If you’re a one-person business, rather than creating Facebook pages for your name, consider setting up a Facebook page for the company, product or service name and add keywords to it. People may be more likely to subscrbe to your Page (become a “fan”) when they see the topic that follows the company name. For example, I’m a one-person business, so instead of creating my Page using my name, I used my official company name of “meryl.net.” I then expanded it to show “meryl.net: writing and editing.” Using this approach shows what kind of valuable information people will get if they subscribe to my Page. Not all of us have well-known brands like Coca Cola, Twitter or IBM.
Creating a new Facebook page requires picking a category for your Page. There are three main choices: “Local,” “Brand, Product or Organization” or “Artist, Band or Public Figure.” For my Page, I decided that “Local” was out, as all except one of my clients is located outside of Texas. I could have selected “Artist, Band, or Public Figure.” Not because I think I’m a rock star, but because it has a “Writer” subcategory. However, I decided to go with “Brand, Product or Organization” as it has “Communications” and “Professional Service” subcategories, which are a good fit for me. Take a look at the categories and their subcategories to see where you best fit.
Before Opening for Business
Prior to broadcasting that your Facebook Page is open for business, add some valuable content so people will see the benefits of subscribing:
- Share tips on how to do things faster or more effectively with your product or service.
- Post how-to videos or screencasts.
- Announce free upcoming events or webinars.
- Mention if you or someone from your company will be attending an event for a potential meet up.
- Import your blog entries.
If you’re not ready for a page or want to become familiar with Facebook Pages, subscribe to some other pages and visit them regularly. See which ones work, and what makes them better than those that don’t work well. As long as you don’t come across as overly promotional, you’ll do fine.

Are facebook pages for business free? If not how much they cost?
Free. Facebook has ads — but that’s a separate thing.
But to create, maintain the page and add some fans you don’t need to pay anything, right?
That’s right.
I am trying to set up my business page on facebook but under the info tab I am only able to enter my location and phone number. Where can I enter a description of the company and my email, website etc.
Caryn, different categories have different parameters. I came across this post searching for a definitive answer as to what the differences are. Can’t find it so far so I may have to research and write it myself. For now, I recommend sending a note to your “fans,” if you’ve launched your Page, telling them that you’re going to delete it and start over. Then rebuild the Page under the category of “Professional Services,” which provides an opportunity to tell your marketing story and value proposition. Good luck.
@Mike. Did you ever write up the differences? I have just discovered that an organisation (bc we’re national) doesn’t get to include it’s address (even though we have a HQ). I’d like to know what other differences I might encounter before promoting the page.
I guess I am too old for this, I need a step by step how to set this up. I am an Insurance Ageny and own my own Agency, Since I am independent many of my companies want me to network with the public via facebook, tweet, etc and I really don’t understand the concept of how and where to do it. I am in the process to start a website in the near future. HELP.
Steve,
You’re not too old, the face that you are here is proof of that. If you have not gotten any further support, or don’t know what to do, please look me up on facebook. I may be able to give you some help.
I would be willing to help you set up your site, I can show you others that I have created if you are interested feel free to contact me.
I agree Steve. Did you ever get the coaching you need to get your FB business site set up? I need someone to help me, my exasperation setting is set way too low.
Thanks for the article. We set up our account months ago and are just now beginning to embrace it.
I just set up a facebook page for an online store but I can’t seem to find it when I use my personal fb account. Typing the facebook page on the search bar does not seem to work. I know it’s there since I was the one who set it up.
I have the same problem. I set up a Facebook page for a business but I can’t find it now in the search. Did anyone find an answer to this problem for you?
I saw a comment on another site that you need to sign up and become a fan of your page before it will show up in searches. If you have no fans it doesn’t show. No idea why or if it’s true but give it a shot.
go to HOME
on the left side of the page, you’ll see a link to PAGES and ADS.
Click that.
To find your facebook fan page from your personal account, just click the search bar at the top and start typing the name of your fan page, for example, my business hypothetically is called “XYZ Products”, so I start typing “XYZ” in the search bar and it brings a drop down that shows it. OR you can view your own profile, click the “Info” tab, and WAY down at the bottom it says Pages… scroll through those until you find yours :)
Thanks MamaCakes. Sorry I didn’t write that very clearly: the specific problem I have is that the page is not showing up on Facebook search. No-one else logged in on their own passwords can see it. Only I can, as you rightly say, through the methods above. I really need other folk to be able to view it. Thanks again.
It might be that you need to get a certain number of fans for your page before it will show up in search. You need 100 fans to get a vanity URL, for example.
I have the exact same problem. I have setup a business page and it looks “okay” and is published, yet others cannot see it or find it using the search?? Doesn’t seem right that you’d have to have some X number of fans before it is searchable?
Same problem here as well with the page for company not appearing in the FB search results. I’ve looked….and looked on FB and have not been able to find why and how to fix.
Has anyone gotten a definitive answer on the resolution to this issue.
I’ve seen this before. The problem might be that the Page is not published. From the “Edit Page” menu, go to Settings and make sure the “status” of the Page is “published.” If you can’t find the Page via the Search, go to the bottom of the “Info” page on your personal profile. It should be listed there under “Pages.”
Did the suggestions listed help you? I created a page and made it public a couple of days ago. I am not able to see my page in a general Internet search.
I set up a page for my photography business and upload some photos. But the news feed has my name attached to it instead of Sweetwater Photos. How can I make it display the SP instead of my personal name?
I have the same problem. I started a band page, and it isn’t displaying the bands name. It’s displaying my name.
go to “accounts”, on top right header field of your personal profile, and select “use facebook as page” on the drop down menu. You can then switch your identity. This is a new feature to facebook and now allows you to post likes and links to your business colleagues as your business profile and not your personal profile. About time too!
Interesting post on Facebook Pages for small business.
The next key is to market those pages effectively so that you reach your target audience with a simple message that shows the benefit to them to first visiting the page and then becoming a fan or subscribing to it.
This is the same challenge with having a blog, website, LinkedIn or Twitter page (or any offline form of marketing collateral, for that matter).
Here’s how to do that:
1) Know *exactly* who your target audience is
2) Find out what their fears and frustrations are, as well as their hopes for the future
3) Speak to them in language they can understand (ie: words THEY use) about why your solution is the best for them
4) Have an immediate call-to-action so that they take action right away instead of trusting them to remember it for later.

I need some advice. I have a personal facebook account. old friends, etc..about 70 “friends”. I have a small but growing scientific equipment distribution business called “Scientificgear”. I want to use facebook for the company but don’t necessarily want to mix my business with the personal stuff. If I create a facebook page for “scientificgear” under my personal account won’t it overload everything with business related updates? what should I do?

Hi,
I would like to know how to go about linking my business web page to my business facebook page that I created. I have the “Find us on Facebook” link on my web page but I want when my customers click on this link that it should take them to my Facebook business page. How do I do this!! Please help!!!
Tks,
Loretta
I just made a facebook page for my business, however I navigated away from it prior to making myself a friend of the page. I did it with my personal account and now I can not find it. I did not publish it yet so it is not searchable and I did not make myself a fan so I have NO idea how to find it now.
Has anyone had this problem. What do I do? Did it actually make a page or do I need to start over? Please help me if you can I am really concerned that now I have a page floating out in space and that it won’t let me make another if I try and it is under my business name.
Try going to the bottom of the “Info” page on your personal profile. It should be listed there under “Pages.”
SESESE
when you are on your personal profile…down bottom left of page you will see your application icons. The first icon normally is Ads & Pages…click this and choose the Pages Tab. Any pages you have on facebook will be in here. My un published one is.
Hope this helps
Seems like a good information. I will try to create one Groups page.
Someone told me about creating a page for our buss. on fb. Well i did and somehow i created 5 differant ones…LOL! How do i delete them?
i just set up a page for my buss. on facebook but somehow i created 5 pages. how do i delete the ones i don’t need?
Brandy, just go onto the Page you want to delete, go to “Edit Page.” You’ll see 3 links under your logo, the third of which is “delete page.” If any of the Pages you’re deleting have any “fans,” then before deleting the Page I recommend sending a note to them from the page letting them know you are deleting this Page and attaching a link to the one you’re keeping with a request to “fan” up there.
I am having a problem setting up a Facebook page for my company. It will only allow me to make a page for a business having it linked to my personal Facebook account. So, when I go to “friend” people, it says “Theresa” rather than “GlobalYP”. How do I create a page without having it attached to my personal account?
Theresa, Facebook requires the Facebook Page be anchored to an accountable email, ie a personal account. I believe at one time this may have not been the case, but it now and for what it’s worth I understand the policy and as a user I support it. One of the best ways to begin promoting your Page is to “Suggest to Friends,” which does come from your personal profile but they end up being “fans” of your Page. Does that help?
Hi Theresa, I think I’m having the same problem as you.
Don’t want fans..want friends. Don’t want my personal name but my business name…I will definitely be spending some money advertising so why can’t this be done? Maybe they should charge us a set fee per year to allow us to do this.
Hello, I have a facebook which has my personl name on it and all my family, vacation etc photos on it. I want to create a small business facebook but I don’t want fans I want to invite friends (new unknown people). I am a wedding coordinator thus I want to show off my weddings to new people that may have a future prospect to book their wedding with me. I want to invite people that I don’t know along with brides that have already gotten married with my company. I want this facebook to have my business name Zante Weddings. Is this possible? Where do I log on to start this? Hope you can help.
I have the same problem… i want to add my customers to my small business page but when i add them they get the request from my personal name instead of my business name and have no idea who i am… what do i do?
When I do a search for my business’ fb page i just made (it has 21 fans) i haven’t been able to find it when i do a search for the things i have in my “info” tab. How do i get other people to find my business if i can’t even locate it? Lil’ help?
I originally created a standard Facebook page and that’s where I end up when I log in.
I created a business page and would like to make that the place it goes to when I log in.
If I’m on the business page and I click the “Home”, “Profile” buttons etc… at the top of the page it goes to my original page. I want them to go to the business page.
I have a business with two locations, phone numbers, etc. It seems like there shouldn’t be a problem entering two locations under the information page, since there are so many restaurants with more then one location. However, I cannot figure out how to do it! Is it possible??
Hi
i opened a facebookpage http://www.kinderenkoning.be but i can’t find my own page if i search on facebook. I did publish the page fine though.
Is there any trick? Can you find it?
Mike
I’ve seen the same question about removing personal information from your business accounts or pages but no clear steps on how to do this. I know it can be done as I see businesses all the time with reserved usernames that are not linked to personal accounts, e.g. http://www.facebook.com/gap. I reserved the username for my company, set up a business page but under my business URL, my real name is always displayed and not my business name. This is frustrating!
I just read that you can only create a business account where your personal info is hidden, only if you don’t already have a personal account. They will terminate your accounts is they find out you have more than one. So for all of the people who’ve set up a personal account before finding out how to set up a business account, it seems you’re just out of luck. Why all of the insane restrictions? This is too complicated. I’m sticking with Twitter and blogging for my business until Facebook becomes more business friendly.
I have been researching this question for the last hour and it seems like everyone has this same problem. If you find any solutions, let me know. VERY frustrating!!
I am having the same issue as a lot of people. I work for a non-profit organization, and do not want my personal account attached to our Page, for obvious reasons. So I created our Page, but am very limited in my capabilities. I need to add static FBML app to the Page, but cannot unless I have a personal profile attached. Any suggestions? I have thought about using the founder of our organization (long-time deceased) but am afraid of getting in trouble and losing all the work put into it. Not to mention 500+ fans.
Any suggestions?
I try to make a facebook page but it won let me it keep saying my password or username is wrong and it’s not
I have a user acct and a business page, can i just delete the one and keep the page only?
When I respond to a post from a customer, my real name is coming up, not Piggy Paint, which is what I want. I have a personal page but need to change my profile name on the business site so I can get it to work as stated above. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
I have a personal facebook account , linda (Motroni) Abbott
with my email lmotabb@comcast.net.
A past employee set us up an account and i went in with his passwords and changed them to mine. Since he left he deleted his old passwords and now the Business page shows a mix of the business account and my personal account. Can i change the password just for the business page and email so it does not mix up with my personal account or do i have to cancel the account ( business ) and start over? Please advise.
Can i change my facebook page form local/service to a brand?
Thank you for any advice
Kath
still not quite getting it…
So we can’t have both a personal acct and a business account, right?

I don’t want my fans to be able to see what’s going on in my personal page. but I want to invite/approve people from my perosnal pageto my fan page.
finally, if I have a business page form my personal acct., do I need to write on the page and the fan page both?
whew….
help my Ronda…..
When posting coments on page the icon for our logo is displayed next to the comment, which is correct , but when posting a photo album my personal profile pic is displayed . I do not understand why the profile image of the site does not display correctly next to a posted album on the page.
I set this up under “business” from the start page of the web site.
HELP!
Thank you ,

Does ANYONE know how to have a business page that does NOT NOT NOT have my real name, ONLY ONLY ONLY my business name?
Thanks so much
If you figure this out please let me know. I don’t think anyone answers questions on this site anymore. Only questions and no answers. I know it is possible because Walmart shows Walmart on their page, not whoevers name…
see if this answers your questions: http://www.facebook.com/help/?search=limited%20profile#!/help/?search=create%20a%20business%20page
I CAN’T CREATE MY PAGE:
THE NAME I’D LIKE TO CREATE A PAGE FOR IS BLOCKED.
Only the official representative may create a Page for an artist, brand, or business. If you are the authorized representative, you will need to contact us from an address associated with this artist. If you’re not able to create your desired Page, please contact us through the form linked from the error message you see.
If you aren’t the authorized representative and would like to create a space for fans of a certain topic or figure to share their thoughts and opinions, we suggest you create a Facebook group.
I found using Storefront Social on Facebook a great way to import my products from my online store and put them on my Facebook fan page. I’ve already seen increased sales and more social interaction to my fan page!
how to make the facebook to small
Good little guide, thanks for writing and sharing! regards Ted.
Facebooktabsite.com is a great way for a small business to add content to their Facebook Fan page.
Hi, we use Facebook to keep our followers up to date with our events, tips, blogs and other cool stuff we might come across.
Have you seen Facebooks new app: ‘Graph Protocol’? Check it out and use your company Facebook to take your business to the next level.
Hi people
Wow, looks like a lot of folks are struggling with Facebook!
Here’s something helpful to know: if you want to keep your personal profile separate from your business presence, set up an email account for the sole purpose of social media. Make sure it’s an account that can be accessed by key staffers – your marketing/PR person, an intern, whomever – and use that account for Facebook and Twitter.
I consult with businesses and individuals on how to use social media tools, such as Facebook and Twitter, to promote their business. I can help with setup and maintenance of these profiles as well. Feel free to contact me for a quote at corinnelitch at gmail dot com.
Great article and great walkthrough of how to setup your facebook page for your business.
It’s better to do this now rather than miss the boat and be the last one making your page for your business!
My page is apprently listed as an “organization” which I probably chose when I created the page but is there any way for it to read “Local business” like I see most other small businesses listed? Or should I just leave it?
This is a great bit of information, thank you! I’d also strongly suggest adding the FBML app to your fan page. The custom tab you can create as a landing page for potential customers is invaluable – and it’s free, so there’s really no downside to having it.
You need to know coding (or a developer) in order to get the full benefits of this app, or if you want to create an awesome-looking DIY splash page inexpensively, you can go to FaceItPages ( http://www.faceitpages.com ).
Is there a way to connect a business page to personal fb account because I cant add the FBML to the Page, it wont let me because it isnt connected to the personal account. The client doesnt want to start over because she doesnt want to lose her fans?? Help…
Hi Michelle,
Whichever account the business page had been created under, that person is the “primary” admin of that Page. Logged into that account, you can then add other admins if you wish, who will then have the same access that the primary admin has and should be able to add the FBML app.
The only difference between the primary admin (the one whose account the Page was created under) and the other admins is that only the primary admin has the privilege of adding and removing other admins. This is actually something a number of people have had complaints with so it’s possible that there will be a way to transfer primary ownership in the future, but for now there is no way to change the account that the Page is attached to.
Sorry for the late response, I hope that helped!
Good article, Really every one should read this article.
Good article I like it very much. Thanks for share
I am creating a Static FB Welcome Page for a Business Page, but this client didnt create her Business Page while in her Personal Page (I am thinking) because I cannot manage her Business Page while logged into her Personal FB Account. I have to log in with different user/pass to manage her Business Page. With that being said, it says you cannot use the FBML if the Page isnt connected to a personal profile. Is there a way to connect the 2?
Hi, I found this information in the FB helpcenter:
“What is the difference between a business account and a user profile?” Business accounts are designed for individuals who only want to use the site to administer Pages and their ad campaigns. For this reason, business accounts do not have the same functionality as personal accounts. Business accounts have limited access to information on the site. An individual with a business account can view all the Pages and Social Ads that they have created, however they will not be able to view the profiles of users on the site or other content on the site that does not live on the Pages they administer. In addition, business accounts cannot be found in search and cannot send or receive friend requests.
/help/?faq=12320
do we have to pay if we make a page on facebook??? or we get money for the clicks??
No, you don’t have to pay to have a FB page. However, you do if you use their advertising to promote your page. But you will only be charged if someone clicks on your ad. You don’t get any money for someone clicking on your ad. The purpose of running the ad is to get more people to your page and they ad you as a “Fan” or whatever its now known as “Like”.
Help. I found what looked to be an answer on this page through google and it goes on so long I can’t find it and am now cross-eyed. Why oh why is my personal profile picture posted when I tag/share a photo on my business page. I don’t want a bathing suit top attached to my business. And I really want the business profile pic to be there instead. Arg. THANK YOU!
Lily,
you made the mistake of creating a personal profile from your business page. Here is what FB says in their helpcenter.
I accidentally created a personal profile from my business Page. Can I get rid of it?
If you click on the “Create Your Profile” button and fill out the additional information, you will create a personal account to correspond with your business account. Once this final registration step is complete, these changes cannot be reverted. Deactivating your personal account will cause you to lose access to any Pages and Social Ads you’ve created.
After you have created a personal account, you can manage all the Pages and Socials Ads you’ve created by selecting “Ads and Pages” from the Applications menu, which is located on the bottom right side of your home page. The fans of your Pages will not be able to view or access to your personal profile. Any actions that you take as a Page administrator on your Page will show the Page’s name as the actor and not your personal name. However, if you wish to restrict your privacy so that other Facebook members cannot find you in search or add you as a friend, you can do so by clicking on “privacy” at the top any Facebook page.
I was just wondering how to get a proper name to our website page. It reads http://www.facebook.com/pages/healthherbsandnutrition/120424277968890?v=wall whereas we would like it to read as http://www.facebook.com/pages/healthherbsandnutrition only. I just read in one reply above that FB allows this after you have a certain no. of fans (100+). Is this true. But then what happens to the current link that we leave here & there? Do both the links lead to the same page?
http://www.facebook.com/username and you only have to have 25 fans now. Best of luck, please find me on facebook if you have any other questions.
How do you get a custom URL for your business page?
Kim and Nicolus: After you gain a minimum of 25 fans for your fan page, you are then able to create a vanity url ( eg. http://facebook.com/faceitpages ) that links to your landing page. It’s kind of a bummer, but not nearly as bad as the 10,000 fan minimum Facebook was considering before allowing a vanity.
Thank you for your helpful tips. I have my business page up and running (Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition), but I can not figure out how to add photos (there is no tab and when I go to add a tab I do not have the option). I also am curious whether I can message people or post on their walls? Any advice you could offer would be very helpful! Thanks.
How do you get rid of the “Welcome to your new Page” tab that showed up on my community page? Lately there’s seems to a lot of issues with Facebook.
Are facebook pages for business free? If not how much they cost?
We are a franchise mainly operating within the insurance sector but offer private services as well. What is the best way to utilise facebook to our advantage?
Does your main corporate office have a business website already? or FB account already? If you are a franchise, then I would personally create a blog and refer your clients to the main corporation website if they want the general info. But if you offer private services and want to promote that, then use your blog to offer these services. Then if you want to create a FB page, do so with another name like your franchise name:services offered i.e; xyzinsurance:services or use your name on the end.
If you already have an email list of people, you really should start emailing them weekly newsletters, or things going on regarding insurance. Then tie these newsletters to your blog. YOu don’t even have to put the whole article in your email. Just a few sentences and then “read more” link to your blog for the whole article.
Just some suggestions.

I’m trying to create a username for my business page on face book, any idea how I can do this? my site is http://www.agoodsign.co.uk but I can’t seem to set a username on facebook for it..
maybe try : UKSafetySigns or UK Safety Signs or UKSafetySignage
IF I ALREADY HAVE A USER PROFILE, CAN I CREATE A BUSINESS ACCOUNT? It’s so funny how FB confuses everyone with this question. Yet they create the “PAGES” account or “BUSINESS PAGE” for this purpose. Here is the info they have listed in their helpcenter. Hope it helps someone.
Maintaining multiple accounts, regardless of the purpose, is a violation of Facebook’s Terms of Use. If you already have a personal account, then we cannot allow you to create business accounts for any reason. You can manage all the Pages and Socials Ads that you create on your personal account.
Please keep in mind that the fans of any of the Pages you administer will not have visibility or access to your personal account or profile. Any actions that you take as a Page administrator on your Page will show the Page’s name as the actor and not your personal name.
If you wish to manage ads for multiple clients, you will need to do so from one account. We suggest you restrict all ads for each client to separate campaigns. Unfortunately it is not currently possible to designate separate credit cards for each campaign or to have multiple administrators for the same ad account.

I use facebook to tell customers about exciting products and little known facts about dogs. I also provide a static coupon code on there for customers. It helps with branding as well. With every other company on facebook and twitter these days, you can’t NOT be on either and be taken seriously.
Please help I need to speak to a live person to help out with my facebook for our Business.
Thank you Kathy

My company has numerous facebook pages for different locations and we want to cancel all of them and start a MAIN PAGE for the company as a whole. Question is…once the other pages are deleted, can we use the same name under a different owner?
I created a Facebook page but the name of the page defaulted to http://www.facebook.com/pages/AndersonEquipment and not http://www.facebook.com/AndersonEquipment. How do I get rid of the “pages” from the URL?
this might be more of an advanced question, but does anyone know how to create a custom landing page that displays one message telling you to like the page, and after liking the page displays something different. for example overstock.com is doing it on their page.
http://www.facebook.com/overstock.com#!/Overstockdotcom?ref=ts
I see that Facebook now has Corporate Accounts. Is that better than doing a Page?
I have a personal FB account and made a business account. I set a URL for the business account, but when I do a Google Search with my Business name my business never shows up. What do I need to do to get the Business Name to show up on a Search engine not in FB.
I also created a page for my business connected to my personal page. It had me “Like” it automatically. I know it’s tehre because the first time I logged in I even added some things to my facebook feed. Now I’m loggin in again about 2 days later, and i can’t find it. I tried clicking on Home, as one person suggested below, and looking under pages and ads, but it’s just not anywhere. How do I find it again?
I don’t think anybody has any answeres to all these questions
All i want is to have my buisness name and photo come up on my buisness page and NOT MY NAME from my personal site!!!!!!
I have been trying to find this out for almost a year now. My buisness facebook page would be very useful if I could get it to work right!!!!
Hi,
I am looking to create a facebook for a business and use the business name as the main name. I dont want to create a business page where people can just become a fan. I want a page that uses a business name instead of a personal name but also allows friend requests.
Is there a way to do this?
I think Facebook is great for small business. People like doing business with people they like and Facebook is ideal for building those relationships. Read Facebook for Business to see some of my thoughts and tips. http://www.dirjournal.com/articles/facebook-for-business/
I already have a personal Facebook page with all my friends there. I was hoping to be able to incorporate my miniature horses stud name on Facebook as well so if anyone searches for it they will find me under both. Is there a way I can do this without having to set up a whole new Facebook identity and start adding friends from the start?
i would like someone who can help me set up a website and a face book page to call me in my office mon-fri from 9am to 5:30pm(eastern) 229-888-0841 i am in need of help thanks to anyone who know how to do this
Here is my problem.
In the article (which was otherwise really helpful) it says to pick the category and subcategory that best fits your topic.
I am wanting to promte a book (fiction) I have just written and, although I see movie, retail, and many other subcategories, I cannot find one that would fit this.
I have looked at several other book pages (such as Odd Thomas) and all of them specifically say ‘book’ beneath the title.
Is there something different they have done to accomplish this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Brad Cannon

Need some help. I created both a company page and a local business page. In my employment history, when I try to make myself the owner of my local business, I do not get the option to choose the local business, only the company page will show up as I start typing.
What gives?

Do I need a face book page for my local company?
I’m trying to set up my biz.fan page and there are several problems I’m having:
1. When Iget to the FBML editing page there is already code in there which relates to the code on my web site (what is this?)
2. When I delete the code and put a simple hello with HTMl code and go to my page and bring up the page there’s nothing there? Why?
3. When I put in the hello into the already large code related to my website in the FBML box the hello shows up!
Why is this code there do I need to get in betweent he lines of this code to show anything on my Fans page and if so why?
4. Also on the left side of my landing page all the information that shows up on my fans page shows up in another word it’s not a clean page where I can set things up my way, even when Idelete the code already inthe FBML page it shows up?!
I’m using basic HTML.
I would appreciate any input.
Thank you,
Parinaz
I tried creating a page for our dealership but when i went to add friends it would request as “add Bethany Chapman” not add midtown motors …people arent going to know who i am!? How do i get it to add as midtown motors??
I have heard that it is better to set up a business as a person on facebook and gather friends rather than fans on a business page. Are there any benefits to this?
Hi, I’m trying to set up a page for my business and trying to use a specific spelling for my name: motvitskiy … One work, all lower case, it gets rejected by facebook automated system. I want to use all lower case letters as it’s exactly how it looks on the official logo of my compnay and using smae spelling everywhere is kind of a part of marketing strategy. There is a form tha tyou cna fill out and I did in which you are requesting facebook admins to create tha page for you, but they are asking for online references of this specific name spelling in major news papaers. I’m one person-business and obviously don’t get published yet in New York TImes and stuff, any thoughts on the subject. My numerous attempts to contact facebook regarding the issue were ignored; I send about 15 emails to them following up the issue and three additional page creation request forms, none were answered in any way. You have said that you were able to create page named: meryl.net <<< how did you manage to create it without facebook giving you trouble about it, it also uses all lower case letters. Please let me know, as it's been almost 4 months I'm tyring to resolve this issue. I would really appreciate some kind of help. Thank you!!!

Question: Business was placed under a personal acct vs. business account. Can this account be changed or deleted and then done correctly?
We tried to set up a page for our charity organization but for some reason it wouldn’t let us use the charity name. It only allowed a real name (in this case it was My sister’s name as she tried to set it up). How can we change that/manage to COMPLETELY get rid of that page so we can start over with the group name instead?
How do I add or connect my website to facebook and where can i locate the logo for facebook to add to my website?
With my help, a colleage has set up a FB homepage for their business.
The issue is that I can log into their Facebook page from my PC to edit and make changes using the “Ads and Pages” tab as usual – however, this tab is not visible on the same Facebook page when they log in and view it on their own PC.
They are using IE – is possibly a browser issue?
I’ve created a business page “BKI Professional Services” for my company and have only 2 fans at the moment. Hence, I can’t retrieve the URL for my page yet. But, when I try to share my photo Album with some of my client(non-facebook users) to their email address it prompts msg ‘You must specify at least 1 recipient for this message’. Can someone show me an alternate way to share my album?
I have a business fan page (Eriksen Chiropractic) with over 500 fans, however my employees can not access/connect to it on their personal pages. My question is when my employees post my company as thier place of employement why does a briefcase with a question mark come up instead of my company fan page picture?
How can I correct this so my employees can list our company as the place of employment and have our company fan page come up?
I tried five times to set up a business page. The first hurdle is that you have to tie it to your cell phone. I never use texting, for budgetary reasons. Then it said I needed 25 fans. And the starting URL was ridiculous. Now I’m just going to add a business page.
For those who are trying to add a business account when you already have a personal account: fb doesn’t allow one to have more than one account. So I guess you can’t have your own name anywhere on your business account.
Hello Everyone
I have set up a FB page for my small business. I sell paintings, and I am also an art instructor. Currently I have my FB page listed as People – Artist. I am also helping the store that hired me with their FB page, listed under Arts/Entertainment/Nightlife (Local Business Page)
I can’t seem to find any way to contact Facebook to as my questions, so I will post here, in hopes to find an answer.
1) For the local business page, is there a way to add in Reviews? So people can rate their experience, and add comments? I’ve seen it on other pages, but no matter how much I look, I can’t find a way to do it for this page.
2) On both pages, I can’t seem to edit the tabs at all. I’m also wondering, (seeing how I am a n00bie with this) should I change my category?
Thank you for your time and consideration!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Namaste

I’ve been trying to set up a business page, but when I try to enter in the city, state, a pop-up box opens and it wants me to login. But I don’t have a FB profile?
Are you logged into your personal account? You need to be logged out of it when you’re working on your business account.
I have the same problem as Luisa: When I try to enter in the city, a pop-up box opens and it wants me to login, but I was logged out of my personal account.
Is it asking you to log in to your business page? Or are you already logged in to your business account?
I want to show customers what type of products are available and want to display this in 1 album per category, i.e. accessories, shoes, etc.
Can someone tell me how I can create an album section/ tab on my page? Thank!
Hi, Alex–For the best answer, of course, you need to go to facebook help. But I’ll share my experience.
When I opened my OcicatStudio page, I was presented with the option to update to the new business-page design. I did so. So how to do things has changed a bit. That’s why I won’t point out where exactly you will find “Photos.”
Click on “Photos” on your Page. If you have uploaded a logo, that image will show. Since I’ve already added a couple of albums, I can’t see how the options will appear on your page when you haven’t added albums. However, here are the possibilities: 1. It may say add album. If so, you can create albums. 2. It may say add photos. Then you will get the option to make them into an album. 3. If you click on your logo photo/image, you will get the option to add photos. Then you can make an album out of that (worst prospect).
I don’t know where you’re offering your products. If you have an Etsy shop, you can add fb’s Etsy application. If you’re with another company, check to see if they have a widget you can show on fb. Zazzle has one, although I didn’t care for it when I used it before in my personal account. But it may have improved since then.
Good luck!
Marian
hi i want to start a home business of cooking classes in various cuisines.if i set up a facebook page, will it automatically show to people in my city or will i have to invite people. i would like this page giving details of my classes, tim in gs,menu s etc to go to other people in my city, not just my facebook friends.do let me know how to go about this thanking you
First of all, a business page doesn’t allow you to have friends, so you want to open a personal page with your own name and focus it on telling your friends about your cooking classes. Then add all the friends you can from your city. The best way to do this is to add friends from the people that facebook suggests. You find these suggested new friends in the right-hand side of the page (at least in the U.S.). You can click on a link that says something like “show all.” Then you can add many people who live in your city or visit your city often, by adding the people who are mutual friends with people who are already your facebook friends who live in your city. You can also look for groups that are interested in cooking and join those groups and tell them about your cooking lessons. You can even start your own new group and give it the name you give to your cooking lessons, for example, “Mary’s Cooking Lessons.” Then you tell all your facebook friends about your group and ask them to join. Good luck! Marian
This is ideal..to start up properly.
Very good information for the beginner.
I am trying to creat a page for my business but after entering the info, keeps asking me to enter the city/state. I did and it is markham/ontario but can’t process.why?
