Now this is a very helpful article. Never thought about backing up until now. I can see the virtue in this line of thinking and actually taking your advice.

I'm saving this article and will look at implementing your suggestions! I share job search tips and secrets to finding a job via Twitter and Facebook and certainly wouldn't want this information lost.

Great job!

Excellent suggestions. One assumes that the next time you log-on to a social network, everything is still there, but there are no guarantees in a virus-laden, ID-hacking internet world.

Another tip for LinkedIn: Since people can spend many hours writing and updating their profile and collecting recommendations, it's a good idea (and easy) to back up your LinkedIn Profile. Just click on the VIEW MY PROFILE button and then click on the PDF icon (just to the right of your photo, next to the printer icon). It creates a PDF page which includes all your written info and your recommendations. Save a copy on your computer. If you ever had to re-create your profile, it would save you many hours. You can also email the PDF to people not on LinkedIn as a mini-resume and print it out and proofread your writing from paper instead of on-screen.

You could also cut and paste the info to create a new profile in another service, too.

This would be in addition to saving all your contacts, as described above.
