4 More Top-Notch, Free App Tutorial Sites

In response to my recent post on free tutorial sites for web worker applications several readers called out some excellent alternative sites. I’ve given these sites a try, and a couple of them are good enough that I feel trumped. In this post, I’ll discuss the kinds of free resources you can leverage there.

TechTutor.TV offers free video tutorials on a slew of applications. Partly because it is such a visual application, the tutorials on Photoshop–from layers to blends–are particularly good. That’s not all the site covers, though.

TechTutor.TV also offers free video tutorials on many other applications, including After Effects, DreamWeaver, Adobe Premiere and Illustrator, InDesign, and many more. According the reader who wrote in in response to my previous post, you can also ask the TechTutor.TV folks do do a particular tutorial for you.

Many web workers are freelancers, and the podcasts available at FreelanceSwitch are excellent panel discussions about freelance work and life. The archive of previous episodes runs down the page.

InPictures offers a diverse set of picture-based tutorials on various topics ranging from using Excel to CSS. The tutorial on Microsoft Access takes you from the basics of building a database to creating rich reports.

If you happen to take PhotoShop seriously as a fine art tool, and want high-end tutorials, check out BMC PhotoArt. This site’s tutorials specialize in things like applying watercolor effects and integrating Photoshop creations with web sites.
