Do we Really Want to rely on Batteries to provide energy to our power grids?

I wonder what happens when the batteries go bad? Does the entire system ave to be sut down to replace batteries?

All batteries have a level of actual Capacitance, or amount of times they can HANDLE cycles of charge and discharge activities. This limits the life of the battery.

Then being requested to hold a charge for a grid Power draw over night while the sun isnt shinning and the wind is not blowing.

I Like the idea Just not sure how Reliable batteries are, and How many Battieries will be required to make say 1 Mega watt, well over 1200, then what will we do with the LEAD FILLED BATTERY WASTE,? What Happens when several batteries within the system weaken if they loose several batteries at one time,OR POSSIBLY a BATTERY bus connection line, lets say..as all these batteries have to be hooked up in series and in paralell to achieve this type of power correct? so how safe is it to build and replace batteries on these things? a battery has no forgivness, with its power once connected it is on at all times there is no switch to shut off the power? I wonder Has OSHA Approved these systems for Grid use?

what appens wen the batteries go bad,

Can the Batteries be replaced without power interuption?
What happens if the Inverter fails to work or the Batteries fail , what kind of time line to repair and get system running again?

How safe is it to work on and build these systems. sure would like to see if they have
I believ carging and discharging batteries at a high rate of speed would weaken the power cell,

Great Idea, but all batteries only ave a limited life span.
I wonder whhat would happen when they decide to connect a grid and supply power to many homes and say several batteries go bad at one time.or a Bus bar get to hot and melts.hummm...would that consitiute a brown out..can they guarantee their system wont falter if several batetries fail at one time or the inverter does not function properly?
Does te entire system go down..DO WE REALLY WANT TO RELY ON BATTERIES THAT WILL EVENTUASLLY FAIL , TO SUPPLY OUR POWER?
Also I wonder how safe, these people are being who are working on and building these units, I wonder if OSHA has done an inspection there yet? seems like a lot of power to be playing with unsafely..hope thhey know what they are doing.

<p>Li-ion at $250/KwH is nice, but not for a vehicle. We need the newer safer batteries. China is already seeing the wisdom of limiting bomb/batteries on their streets. Mr Jackman, I addressed the poor prognosis of cap and trade at your blog, but as a con, I do deplore the denialism of the right. It's as sad as the agenda driven junk science. We need a Ballance, an all fronts policy, not a debilitating all eggs in one expensive basket pseudo fix.</p>

<p>this article will help us to prevent global warming, to save our mother earth and Eco friendly. Xtreme Power it has a lithium ion batteries energy storage, efficiency, cycle life.It was invented in a 1990’scharging and discharging at high speeds, while at the same time keeping the qualities that make batteries better than capacitors for long-term energy storage. Thanks for having Xtreme power in our lives. Keep it up your good works! More power to your site! G_d bless ;-)</p>

<p>Well, the cap and trade legislation and global warming debate is much more profound than what is being said. I think us conservatives and republicans have it wrong when it comes to global warming. Before I thought that green technology and water conservation was too much, but after looking at this article I have come to the understanding that maybe, it is not so bad of an idea, I would like to share it with you and I hope you come to my same conclusion, I'm sure you will:</p>
