&lt;li&gt;&lt;p&gt;The House version of the bill specifies only &quot;airports, bridges, canals, dams, dikes, pipelines, railroads, multiline mass transit systems, roads, tunnels, harbors, and piers&quot; -- no electrical grids there.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;p&gt;Clause (b)(2) of BOTH the House and Senate bills carves out an exception when relevant materials/goods are &quot;not produced in the United States in sufficient and reasonably available quantities and of a satisfactory quality&quot;, so presumably GM would not be forced to swap superior batteries for inferior ones -- of course, since batteries aren&#039;t even covered by the legislation this point is irrelevant&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;&lt;p&gt;I&#039;m not sure where you acquired the idea that just because Ford might theoretically accept a government bailout, this would mean that it could no longer source batteries outside the US. As far as I can tell, this is nowhere in the legislation, or indeed anywhere in the political discourse.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/li&gt;
