Green energy is definitely the best solution in most cases. Technology like solar energy, wind power, fuel cells, zaps electric vehicles, EV hybrids, etc have come so far recently. Green energy even costs way less than oil and gas in many cases.

If somebody would only care to understand physics and thermodynamics. E=MC2 predicts the amount of ash you are left with after you pulled out the energy at a miserable 40-45% effeciency. Where is the ash going to go??? Dump it "some place"???

Quit wasting time looking for a magic bullet.

Every step which reduces dependency on finite resources is a worthwhile step. Each measured introduction of a renewable resource is part and parcel of a long-term solution.

Sometimes, my peer enviros sound like they learned to analyse history - from Walt Disney. It's not likely John Wayne will stroll into town with a Winchester rifle and make it all better.

maybe they should actually look at Malaysia as well being one of the biggest producers of Palm Oil products due to the enormous growth of palm trees for this production. Dont know where the wastes goes but certainly a venue to explore

This is exactly the dilemma of most ethanol-based biofuels, it makes some difference but probably not much overall. (like jumping from the 20th instead of the 36th floor of a building you're less likely to die, but not much). Much better to work hard at reducing demand through greatly increased efficiency of electrical equipment.
