this is kind of a ridiculous take on this story. if i worked at silver spring networks, i'd have exactly the opposite reaction. this essentially puts a big fat stamp of validation on their business model. all the while, silver spring has amassed a several year lead on technology development and customer engagement. the specifics of these buildouts require feature sets that cisco can't just walk in with on day one. all of that may be moot in the end when cisco just acquires silver spring for a good premium.
