Obama selected Tom Vilsack as his Secretary of Agriculture. The title is misleading and most of us quickly dismiss the importance of this position. This position will closely dictate the future rulings on alternate energy policies. Since Vilsack is the ‘king of corn’, I foresee corn ethanol predominating as an alternate energy source (which is problematic for a variety of reasons — carbon balance, food vs. fuel concerns, etc.).
