		<description><![CDATA[&lt;p&gt;In concurrence.  Having a simple metric for comparing different vehicles is key to consumers who cling to simple, intuitive statistics.  The 230 MPGe tag on the Volt is simply confusing.  But admittedly it is a very difficult task, as the NYT points out it is an inherently subjective procedure.  There is no simple way to compare electrical energy and that stored in petrol.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;So, I suggest an alternative that I admit is not perfect, but is simple and objective: Miles per Dollar. Measurement is trivial and homes in on the issue that is most important to consumers, especially in this climate.  Take a look at my proposal.  I welcome constructive criticism:&lt;/p&gt;
