I not to sure the companies providing internet accesses as well as you cell phone, home phone and dish network are just going to say okay wimax come in and take my business. I agree with below comment they are looking to create a market suck everyone in and when the technology is no longer useful for them they will move the the next great thing and abandon the end users.

The pipe itself is certainly a crucial component for the smart grid to intelligently manage at the electron level and will drive enormous cost efficiencies for the power production companies. Additionally, when the intelligence extends beyond the meter and into the power consuming devices themselves, a whole new level of efficiency can be achieved. In a residential scenario, the bandwidth required to support this intelligent consumption won't even come close to taxing the WiMAX pipe, therefore, opening a whole new opportunity to deliver enhanced services via the broadband entrance into the consumer's home (VoIP, IPTV, VoD, Wireless). The consumer will benefit from the bill consolidation and inherent cost reduction that accompanies single provider delivery of multiple services.
