Last month Washington State announced that they had contracted Irish company Open Hydro to build an off-shore Tidal-Energy farm. I'm familiar with the Open Hydro guys and their pitch is that tidal energy is 100% predictable and sustainable, whereas wave is more more difficult to manage constent generation. Open Hydro as far as I know are also the worlds first company to provide ocean (tidal anyway) power on a commercial basis, to a Scotting power company.

I love that Newsom is genuinely passionate about the green economy and renewable energy, but I also have genuine concern about the environment - especially here in Friendly Franny. I will say however, that I acknowledge we've reached a point that some tough decisions need to be made and people like myself, vegetarian & habitat protectors, will have compromise for the greater good and do what will yield the most positive results.

A few questions though if you care to answer, Mr. Newsom:

1) What is to say that if this project yields good results, it will implemented elsewhere throughout the state, or beyond?

2) What company would be doing this and are they subject to lawsuits if they cause unforeseen damage to the environment, the same way a construction company would be if they damaged an existing building while working on it?

3) And lastly, if this is successful and you're our next Gov, will it increase your ability to implement this elsewhere or is this just a campaign gimmick?
