&lt;p&gt;The main advantage of methanol is its liquid state, which in theory would be advantageous to vehicles.  But without a applicable fuel cell format, that path is sunk.  One could burn methanol in IC engines, but the automakers are all staying away from that, due to the toxicity of methanol.  They do not consider methanol a viable future fuel at this point in time.&lt;/p&gt;]]></description>
