A small startup in Palo Alto CA called Visible Energy, Inc., has developed several devices that you plug your appliances into which communicate your energy usage over the Internet or via iPhone app, but then you can actually turn off your appliances remotely if you find they are using too much power. I think they said they would be offering the products commercially in a few months.&lt;/p&gt;]]></description>
