From what I am seeing, the ideas make sense, and I would love to see one of their homes. As for size of homes and how green they can be, consumer education is lacking. I read a builder's brochure advertising how they are building green/EnergyStar homes, but they were discussing options on how to increase the square footage for a family (not mentioning how this effects the green label that they were putting onto the home). Consumers who can afford having these homes built, also desire larger footprints in their homes.

ZETA does represent "real green homes". I recently had a tour of one of their homes and ZETA has a market transformation vision for energy efficiency and Zero Net Energy that should be used as a model for future new construction. Their homes are not exorbitant or wasteful, and are actually modest in size. ZETA has created a production model that considers the entire life cycle; something that needs to become habitual. While I agree, there are many homes being built today that are wasteful with an energy hog mentality, I would disagree that ZETA should be considered in this category.

Where are the real green homes? Today's homes, even when designed to be "green" are much larger than earlier homes and have a much smaller household. Even with efficiency improvements, they are much more wasteful and generate more emissions than the smaller homes of the 50s.
