Frankly speaking, it's a pity for me that GM is in such a bad situation. I really like the cars they make and they are automobile builder with great brands and tradition - something like a symbol of America. The government shouldn't let em just die!

No Surprise that GM had to sink like the Titanic.. Just the pain and hard work of 300 Million Taxpayers going down the drain.. Whose responsible for that?

I have heard, but am trying to confirm, the GM VOLT body and drive train will not be built in the USA.

If so, why would we be giving money to GM, so they can build these in China?

We need jobs here. This money is to rebuild the US economy.

Even if GM goes bankrupt, they've come far enough forward with the Volt project that it has become an asset (the plant is already designed, the specs and timeline laid out, etc). It is highly likely that whoever purchases GMs assets will go forward with the project and position themselves to take advantage of the market. Just because many people in the USA can't get car loans today, doesn't mean they won't be getting loans and buying cars next year or the year after.
