Attn. Mr Ken Zweibel, President of PrimeStar Solar.
Dear Mr Zweibel,
Inspired by your article in Sci Am January 2008, "A Grand Plan for Solar Energy", I would like to know more how this plan has further progressed in the mean time. My interest is 2-fold:
1. to have the privilage to obtain more info from you and to enabvle me to write an article about the exciting Grand Plan, in some local papers.
2. also, to be granted the authority to promote and sell Solar PV systems (based on CdTe cells/modules) in my country, produced by PrimeStar Solar.
PT Centronix, which I am the president of, is basically a system integrator in the sector of Radio Telecommunication. In this sector I came accross with Solar PV modules, to energise radio repeaters located on top of hills. PT Centronix , about 20 years ago or more has bought the licence from Solarex USA (now BP Solar), unfortunately too early for Indonesia. We assembled by manually stringing imported cells and vacuum laminating into modules. That is all history now.
I see a huge opportunity to promote and sell systems in my country, such as described in your article. My country at present is having a huge shortage of energy generation and I am ambitious to promote renewable energy.
I sincerely hope and expect, that you would be so kind as to give response to my message, hopefully an encouraging response that I can follow through in my country.
Thank you for your kind attention.
Best regards,
P. Iwansantoso (just call me Iwan)

Thanks, Adena, for a very good story. I've talked to a lot of journalists, and most are nowhere near as fair and thorough.

One thing you might have gotten the wrong impression from me was about the record cell developed at NREL. Its development was led by others - especially researchers X.Wu, D. Albin, T. Gessert, P. Sheldon, and R. Dhere - and more. And many of these same researchers continue to be a big help to PrimeStar Solar through our cooperative research agreement with NREL.

Again, thanks, and all the best.
