Shai Agassi on How to Electrify America’s Cars:

Former SAP exec Shai Agassi may have convinced both Israel and Denmark to take a chance on his electric vehicle infrastructure startup, Project Better Place, but getting regions of the sprawling U.S. on board is another story. Agassi tells Earth2Tech in a video interview why he thinks the U.S. is actually a really good fit for his company’s plans. It’s all about those clustered urban centers and the two-car American family. Check it out here.

Google to Soon Start Investing In Green Cars:

The Earth2Tech Team grabbed some camera time with Google.org’s director for climate change and energy initiatives, Dan Reicher, at Google’s conference in Washington DC on plug-in vehicles. Reicher told them that Google will make investments in green cars this summer through it’s plug-in hybrid program, RechargeIT. That’s a big step beyond the four plug-in hybrids that currently constitute Google’s entire RechargeIT program. . . . For the full video check out Earth2Tech.

Linux is Greener, But Efficient Servers Are MIA:

Linux was just deemed greener than Windows Server 2008 when running as the operating system for servers — a good 12 percent more efficient. Now that might not sound like much, but the same research also drove home just how difficult it is to get servers to run efficiently. Bill Gates Says See Ya to His Pacific Ethanol Stake:

Bill Gates has been slowly selling off his 20.6 percent stake in ethanol producer Pacific Ethanol. Gates’ private investment and holding company, Cascade Investment, has been whittling down its stake trade by trade, and by last Friday Cascade had sold off a total of 1.4 million shares in three days, or roughly $5 million worth of Pacific Ethanol stock. The bloom has sure fallen off the ethanol rose, as the margins for ethanol makers have been growing way thin. For the full story, go to Earth2Tech.

Intel Capital Invests in Veoh and More:

Internet video portal and software maker Veoh has raised $30 million from Intel Capital, Adobe Systems Inc. and Gordon Crawford, senior vice president of Capital Research Global Investors, NewTeeVee is reporting, bringing the company’s total funding to just shy of $70 million. The funding for Veoh was just one of the $60 million worth of investments unveiled by Intel Capital; the investment arm of the chip maker also led funding rounds in online security company Accertify, workforce management software maker TOA Technologies, energy efficiency and smart grid company Grid Net, online health video network HealthiNation and Latin America-focused social networking company Vostu, as well as India-based online education company Vriti Infocom and Czech Republic-based online retailer Internet Mall.
