After installing Snow Leopard on my Mac Book Pro (July 2008) 2.4GHz, 2GB RAM, 200GB 7200RPM Drive, I can no longer have 9 spaces open. it totally gives me "the circuswheel of hell" all the time. 4 spaces is about what it can manage. Safari is much slower. I have been forced to take away the "Top Sites" feature in preferences to not have to wait for a minute before a new tab comes up after hitting the +. Also the "Top Sites" feature loaded for a few seconds with old images from the image cache from Preview.app in a distorted way before going right. Imediately after I had installed Snow Leopard my battery changed status from fine to "Service Battery" (on 96 cycles).
This article above is not much more than a sales pitch and I think that is sad.
How about a little more integrity for your authors? Some more testing and investigating what you write about?
Anyway, I've had Macs now for 13 years and my next computer will also be a Mac.

While I can see dropping Rosetta support is a bit of a bummer to some, there are maybe a handful of apps that I still use that have to run on Rosetta, so to be honest I'm not that upset, that maybe because I can just use them on my G4 though. In reality I would rather have the 7GB of HD space as well...

Indeed, that appears to be confirmed by yesterday's article on Snow Leopard installation from Appleinsider.com: http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/09/08/12/sources_detail_changes_to_snow_leopard_installation_process.html

I imagine that will be welcome news for those with legacy PPC software, and for those without.

I make most of my income from preparing income taxes using a program I wrote in Excel. The program runs very fast on any PPC Mac or Intel Mac through Rosetta & Excel 2004. The program runs like a dog when run under Excel 2008. I've tried alternatives to Excel 2004 & non of them do a very good job. Many formulas are lost , formating is lost, & various other problems including print areas changing. For these reasons I can not operate without Rosetta on my Intel Mac. That means that Snow Leopard OS 10.6 can not be installed as a working OS.

With the largest 2 groups of apps being universal, Office 2008 & CS3? & 4, Apple may assume that there is not enough need for Rosetta. They have a history of cutting out many technologies before the Mac Users are ready.
