The iPod is not the only product that Apple has been skimping on. Apple has repeatedly taken out things with each generation of the iPhone.

I never owned the 1st generation iPhone, so I’m not sure all the accessories that it came with, but I know it used to come with a dock connector for the computer. When I went out and bought the iPhone 3G, Apple discontinued supplying those docks. You can still get them, but you have to buy them separately from Apple for around $49.99 I think.

Anyways, I just went out and bought the iPhone 3Gs a couple days ago. Although at first glance, everything seemed the same, even the look of the box, I realized that Apple took something out. When I got the 3G, Apple included a little shamy (lol dont know how thats spelled, but basically a little piece of cloth) that you can use to wipe dust and prints of your screen (it was pretty cool actually). Apple quietly took this out of the 3Gs packaging, and although its not a very big deal, its kind of annoying not to have it especially after i gave away my old shamy when i sold the 3G because i thought i was gonna get a new one lol.

Im wondering if anyone knows if there was anything else that apple included in the 1st gen iPhone that isnt included with the 3G or 3Gs anymore???

Peronally the only thing i can agree with is an adapter. It would be nice to charge my 5G Nano on the way to school instead of remembering to do so before i go to sleep at night…

I was going through my grandfather’s closet when i found the 2G ipod. I picked it up and had a reflex and threw it because it seemed so weird. I am used to holding my 5G nano, which is VERY compact and thin. Then i pick up the older one and it feels like a tapte recorder. I tried hooking it up to my computer and it kept beeping? The BEEPING is ANNOYING, it’s huge and weird feeling. It’s not as colorful and sharp as the newer one and the circle’s HUGE…there goes that damn clicking again…

You can choose an preference for your iPod in iTunes that is something like “Automatically start iTunes when iPod is connected” if you uncheck that, but don’t check the disk mode option, you can plug your iPod into the computer and nothing happens except it starts charging. You don’t even get interrupted for a second. I’m doing it right now.

I’m having the same kind of connection problem. I had a clock “radio” that I used to dock my 2nd gen. nano on, and it would charge and play in the house for me. I rarely ever connected it to the computer. That ipod was stolen last weekend, so I replaced it with a new one–a 4th generation nano. It will play on the same docking station, but it will not charge. I actually get a message every time I put it there that this item does not support the charging function. FRUSTRATING!! I seriously miss the old ipod. Anyone know of a way to get around this? (other than buying a new one and spending even more unplanned money?)

BTF, What about the fact that the new iPod touch no longer works with half the docking stations and alomst all direct connect car connections. Even the Bose speaker system no longer works with the new iPod Touch! A point they really should have focused a little more on.Had I know ahead of time, I wouldn’t have switch to the new one. Very Lame on Apples part. Who wants to connent through a headphone jack, that is a terrible sound choice.

What I find most irritating is that my old iPod Nano used to charge when I plugged it into a base station player AND when I plugged it into my car, thus I never had to worry about the battery running low. I just bought the new 8GB Nano and I found out it no longer charges on these accessories. L-A-M-E

The lack of firewire sucks!

I don’t have usb2. my older g4 mac works fine still so i’m not about to upgrade it for a USB port.

The transfer speeds with USB1 are a joke.
