Firstly, worms/trojans and virus can and do attack multiple platforms, however rare. You can get infected systems that spread across platforms, so make sure to lock down and protect your windows box. View it as a system that is on your LAN, it is a real software install running on a VM hardware which if configured properly won't cause too many issues or get infected. Trevor, your statement is just flat out wrong for the most part.

You will still need to secure the Windows installations, and that's probably why VMware's offering the McAfee deal.

However, any corruption in the Virtual Machine will not affect the Mac OS X.

I'm interested in exploring the idea of running Windows on my MBP but I'm curious as to how vulnerable I'll be to the usual problems and attacks associated with Windows -- especially after seeing VMware's offer of an 12-month subscription to McAfee's Virus Scan Plus.

Any comments or suggestions to ease my concerns?
