I have both an Iphone and a droid. For now, droid wins. For me the gps and capability to run multiple apps are key. I also prefer the android os over apple's bc it's more open source and has more options open to the user. Though it's not an iphone killer, it does beat the iphone in my perspective. If you have both, I can understand where you're coming from, but if you don't, I don't want to hear your biased bullshit.

The Droid has gotten it's first OS update this month. Its already been rooted. Out less than two months and already on it's way to dominant the world. Camera issues fixed, battery life much better now, faster and smoother screen with this update. AT&T has done well with the iPhone, but maybe Apple got the short end of the stick by being locked in with them for so long. As for the iPhone going to Verizon, so what, not relevant any longer. There's a new Sheriff in town, his name is Droid. I have one and got one for my nephew. He took it to school the day after getting it. Came home with it all tricked out, customized, and loaded with apps. If a bunch of 12yr olds can figure it out and have it flying, can't be too difficult. The iPhone has been out how long? It better be smooth, and I'd certainly expect more than it delivers. I've been on WinMobile and Blackberry devices, never owned IPhone (not going to AT&T just to get a phone ) I used the IPhone so I can compare the two. IPhone better tighten up. It's old school now. Placed #4 ln gadget of the year, behind #3 a fan. Guess who was #1 ? Yep, the Droid. It can and does live up to the marketing hype.

First of all I have one question to all you who think the droid is better than the iphone. How stupid could you be. I don't even know where to start. the commercials for the droid that is trying to attack the iphone is pointless if you think about it. Who the hell wants to or even needs to run more than one app at the same time. anyone who has ever owned an iphone know that even if the iphone doesn't run simultaneous apps its probably easier to switch apps on the iphone than it is to use two apps at the same time on the droid. the part where it says about customizing and interchangeable batteries is also stupid. everyone knows you cant really customize on the iphone but who needs to when you have a phone this sick it does everything else, and second of all if you want a phone that you can customize any other phone out there can customize better than the Iphone so why go with the droid, i mean a blackberry can customize an htc can customize even a simple LG can customize so to all you who are getting all wet over the droid an htc, blackberry, palm moto q , or any other phone that run windows moble can probably be better than the droid

Hafta say, just got my Droid and LOVE IT. What a classy device. I am a long time Mac user (since 1984) and a long time Verizon user who does not want to switch (though with some heartache, as I've long admired the iPhone. I've enjoyed my iPod Touch, but hated having to hop to WiFi places. Verizon users, give it a go. It's an excellent device!

Dude! thats exactly what I was thinking. I have a verizon phone right now, and the majority of my friends are on verizon. This means free texting etc to people on the network (can't do on AT&T). I was hoping that the iphone would come to verizon...or at least that AT&T would stop having a monopoly over it. There's just a few questions that I had about it..
1. I have a mac computer (i'm using it to write these now) would I be able to have the droid be compatable with it?
2. And what about itunes. almost all of my music is itunes (majority with retarted security "no sharing" stuff)

I guess I could always run parallels, but what a hassle.
If anyone can answer it would be greatly appreciated.

open development. [ < period ]

I really like the iPhone, and I love Apple... but open development for the win.
it's enough of a sell for me right off the bat even if it's slightly less of a phone [which I don't think it is]

It is ok to love Apple but hate their business philosophy right? As a software developer [flash included] it sucks that I'm precluded from running my applications on the iphone. That seriously rubs me the wrong way.

http://developer.android.com/index.html

it's like developer dream land... I imagine the amount apps in the Apple app store will rapidly be eclipsed by droid apps... as a matter of fact a lot of developers will probably be able to directly port their apps onto the android platform with some form of virtual environment!

LOL.

I am so negative about this phone not becuase it bad device or think that it lacks the lastest technolgy but because there is no market for this phone. Right now there are the i phone users from at&t and the blackberry users from verzion i dont believe either of those customers will make the switch to the droid. This phone may be better than the i phone and the smartphones already promoted by verzion but i dont think it will be that much better in the eyes of current smartphone holder. Also most of the stuff advertised in the commerical are ridicolous extras that are not appealing to anyone who has the money to buy one. The extras are for children who play in the dark and want to play more than one game at once but too bad this phone was not marketed or priced for children. Point in case there is no market share for this device due to the current competition.
