with regards to conversation view being haphazard: this is most likely because in order for this to work, the tweets need to have their in_reply_to_status_id properly set. what that means is that the user would need to reply to a specific tweet (whether by clicking the reply arrow on the web interface, or through a client of their choice) rather than simply typing @username. just typing @username will link to an account page, but it doesn't know what tweet to link to. trying to load a conversation with one of these types of links will obviously fail, since it's not part of a conversation from a technical standpoint - it's a free-floating link to a userpage. you can easily see the difference on twitter's website in the byline for a tweet. if it's a reply to a specific tweet, it will say 'in reply to _____', and clicking this will take you to the tweet in question.

other apps have similar functions (eventbox offers a conversation view as well) but sadly it's not a client problem, it's an issue with the backend/the way people reply.

"There are drawbacks though: there’s a missing refresh button, no method for deleting tweets" Whilst I agree with the no delete option being a problem, why would you need a refresh button? The twitter stream is auto-refreshed; you get to choose from auto-scrolling to the top of your stream or maintaining scroll position when new tweets arrive, (this is under preferences). Otherwise great app and great review.
