One factor to consider is the sales curve on some of these apps. Do certain apps, or classes of apps, tend to have a strong spike in sales when they are first publicized, only to reach a saturation point and drop off rapidly? Perhaps other classes have a flatter curve with a longer tail?

It would be interesting if some of the app vendors would make their sales numbers over time available. Those are the data I would like to see.
