His faeces are either rock-hard pellets, runny soup-like muck, or a mixture of the two.

He often belches and vomits into his mouth during conversation. This adds an interesting vomit fragrance to his already awful breath.

It’s fasinating that Paul totally avoids mentioning Automator, Tiger’s new personal automation assistant! … There is no equivalent in XP or Longhorn. I guess that Paul doesn’t want to have to admit that.

It is a shocking omission, but in essence, that review only served to illustrate features which were either of little relevance (i.e. Dashboard) or that will be coming in Longhorn in due course (i.e. Spotlight). Genuinely different features are not mentioned, so as to ensure that Tiger does not actually in any way outshine Microsoft’s offering. Thurrott is presumably aware of Automator – its icon features on his Internet Nexus blog site – it seems unlikely that he would have pilfered the icon without clicking it.

In any event, scripting on Windows has always been rather lacking – there’s never been anything like AppleScript (neither in terms of ease-of-use or utility), and regrettably, that which is offered (the Windows Scripting Host, about which I know absolutely nothing, having never had the occasion to use it) is only used as a conduit for viruses and other hacks.

I’ve not played with Automator yet, and it may well not see that much use from me, but I can see that in the workplace, it has enormous potential.

I think Paul is just having pangs of guilt at liking OS X that’s all. I mean look at how he keeps flipping back and forth.

That’s precisely the point. He comes across as somewhat schizophrenic, at once both basking in OS X’s radiance, feeling the glow and loving it, but yet unable to fully do so because to him it’s still the Dark Side, or, if you’ll excuse the pun, the forbidden fruit. It’s rather immature behaviour at the end of the day, reminiscent of the pettiness one might endure in the playground at school, rather than in the “civilised” field of tech journalism…

To be fair to Thurrott, he is entertaining, but sadly for him, in the same way that a man in the stocks in days of yore might be. We laugh at, not with.

His last few lines are what really hits home and I couldn’t have said it better myself. OS X exceeds over Windows in that it “gets out of your way” and lets you get your work done. A PC Magazine article just mentioned that Microsoft is going to make that one of their key points in Longhorn (i.e. OS just works, so you can do your work) because they know that right now Windows often times does get in your way which leads to a very frustrating experience.
