An only an option for people who couldn’t be bothered reading through stuff.

Sure, technically minded people are always going to find reading a much better option, but they’re also probably the people who will already understand the video content, so there’s no real need for them to consume it.

Video is for SHOWING people things – people who aren’t thought-oriented (ie non-geeks, people NOT like you and me).

I am frustrated to have to spend 15 minutes watching a video to find out something I could find in a text form in seconds. Try searching a video for ‘bluetooth profile’. There is no great way to indicate the contents of a video. The task-based video is great but I hope it never becomes a replacement for a good online, detailed, searchable manual. Unfortunately I think I am beginning to see video replacing text in the manufacturers eyes.
