I recently convinced a not-so-tech-savvy family member to switch to a mac. She hooked herself up with a gorgeous new iMac and is really happy with it. However, I tried to get her up and running with QuickBooks 2009 for mac. It was a NIGHTMARE. The fact that the mac version of their software cannot read the same filetype that is used on the windows version is ludicrous. You have to go through a long and arduous conversion process that creates so many errors in your files. We ended up opting to run windows through VMWare so she could keep using the PC version of the software. All in all, a very disappointing experience.
