I switched from QB Pro for windows to Mac 2009 QB. None of the memorized transactions moved over. So went into each of my client files and restored the addresses and rememorized. Could not find how to delete the old memorized monthly invoices.
Many crashes when trying to clean up old data.
Enter payments to invoices and check them off (I know they were entered) to find they were Not entered in my records (when some were and some weren't).
Very confusing
Also "an error has occurred and quickbooks must quit."
Create an email to tell us what happened, blah blah..... May take a while - It never goes and I have to shut the computer down to make it stop.

Hi Bob,
QuickBooks for Mac 2009 stores company files in Documents/QuickBooks by default. However, you can put a company file wherever you please, just go to File>Open and navigate to the correct folder.

Hi Sandy,
To the best of my knowledge, Quicken Mac files can only be converted to QuickBooks for Mac. Perhaps your computer whiz converted your Quicken file to QuickBooks for Mac format and then to QuickBooks for Windows format.

You can do this using trial versions of QuickBooks available on our website at quickbooks.com/trymac. Download the Mac trial, install it, launch the application, and go to File (menu)>Import>From Quicken files. When you finish converting the Quicken file to QuickBooks for Mac format, you can convert it to QuickBooks for Windows format by going to File>Back up to QuickBooks for Windows. Then send your accountant the resulting file.

Alternatively, you might ask your accountant whether there are any reports you can print from Quicken that will show the required information. This could be faster.

Note that with the first method, revisions your accountant makes to your finances will need to be manually updated in your Quicken file--there's no way to go from QuickBooks back to Quicken. If collaborating with an accountant is important, you should consider upgrading to QuickBooks.

Hi Polly,
When did you email me? I checked quickbooksmac@intuit.com and didn't see anything from you last week. I also checked my junk box.

Perhaps the size of your file is an issue? Try emailing me again, this time omitting the attachment. I will send you instructions on an alternate way of submitting your file.

Hi Kevin,
QuickBooks for Mac can only import from a special "Mac backup" created in QuickBooks for Windows by going to File>Export>Copy file for QuickBooks Mac. (This creates a file ending in .MAC.qbb.) QuickBooks for Mac cannot import a QuickBooks for Windows QBB.

Also, to answer the question you posed regarding Quicken elsewhere in this comment thread, Quicken for Mac cannot import data from QuickBooks for Mac. (Nor, as far as I know, can their Windows counterparts.) We typically see smaller, earlier stage businesses grow from Quicken into QuickBooks, not going the other way.

I have used QB Pro 2009 windows version and just bought a MacPower Book and am interested in continuing to use QB Pro 2009. The question is, since I bought Parallels and can either run the windows version or buy a Mac version if I can restore from the Windows backup to the Mac version.

All comments appreciated
