I was an unhappy Windows user for 25 years and have been delighted with my MAC for 16 months, except for a few programs. It's amazing how Apple can't match MSPAINT which MS has been providing free since at least 1982!
It's such a simple program, so easy to learn and use, and although I've used it countless times, I don't remember it ever crashing or disappointing me - except when I had unrealistic expectations of it -.
Now comes this Apple "Paintbrush" and I can't do much of anything with it before it crashes EVERYTIME!
My MAC's healthy and works fine otherwise and uptodate.
All I'm trying to do is select a section and modify its size. And it looks like "cropping" - which I view as routine - is a big project, which was hard to find even with the "Help" and was greyed out.

Impressive? You have got to be joking... If you try to rotate - even with only part of the image selected - it rotates the entire graphic. This package is a joke, and the developer behind it should be shot, not donated to.

Paintbrush's dropper tool is broken: instead of giving you the color and tint you click on, it gives you a lighter shade than what you clicked on. So if you want to go back to another color, your only option is to grope around the color picker, hoping you find it again.

It's at version 2. How was this missed?

Well the program is indeed great. Very basic, which I like. However, I use paint to crop pictures and paste onto other ones (giving it a cheap look -which I normally go for). In paintbrush, you can't really hand-freely crop things but using the square-mode cropping instead. In addition, you cannot paste a new picture you just cropped without the white background. MS Paint has that function.

I hope in the future version of PaintBrush, developers will decide to update these functions!

Does any one know if paintbrush on mac can cut and shift an image that has been drawn without the unpainted background being moved too? On MS Paint this can be done by selecting the two options for cut but theres nothing that i can see on paintbrush, and its real annoying!

Has anybody used paint.net on Windows? That's what we need on OS X. I recently switched back to Mac and needed to do some simple photo editing. I wanted to take 2x2 passport photos taken by Costco and arrange on a standard 4x6, so I could print multiple copies. For some reason Costco wouldn't print extra copies of a 2x2 passport photo. I couldn't figure out how to do it in OS X, so I ended up doing it in Windows using paint.net.
