for text editors I have an even better solution for you; and given that you also had xcode it made a lot of sense for me to mention:
aquamacs yes you already have emacs installed if you went to the terminal, but this adds lots of extra prettys and basically is a superset.

iStats’ calendar has been updated in recent versions. I find it to be much better looking. I love the world clock. What it is lacking, is iCal integration. For that I use the “iCal Events” widget.

It took me years to grasp why 1password is better than the keychain. It is: same passwords in all browsers, multiple identities for a single web site, password generator,… I used to have only 2 passwords and use them over and again. Generated passwords are much more secure.

Sorry, @Gloubibou, MenuCalendar’s calendar menu item is *waaaaaay* better then iStat’s (another reason I had chose MenuCalendar+MenuMeters combo previously). I’d probably use MenuCalendar still if it weren’t for the change in functionality under Leopard.

My “1passwd” is a text file in a secure disk image on my USB flash drive, only needed if I really can’t remember a username/password combo (which is rare).

+1 for iStat Menus. Especially for its menubar clock/calendar. The widget is gorgeous too.

Big vote for HoudahSpot 2. Leopard has improved Spotlight, but still nowhere near par.

I find it difficult to live without visualhub and Transmission. Definitely the best apps for the mac. ~and what is exactly wrong with the new iPhoto? The main differneces that i see is events and being able to flag photos which is all benefit in my opinion…

Have you ever tried Mac HelpMate? – a free all-in-one preventive maintenance utility that repairs permissions, updates prebinding, removes font caches, user caches, cleans logs, runs daily, weekly, monthly. Also has an auto scheduling feature. v. 2.0.1 works with Leopard.

You hit the nail on the head when it comes to ecto and Mars Edit. I’ve not bought either because I want both, but I want them both in one package.

I also made the move to Leopard recently (just this weekend) and went from FireFox 2.x to 3 beta and it’s been near faultless for a beta. One crash and with the config hack, almost all the plugins work just fine.

I’d like to throw Text Mate into the ring. The only Text Editor I’ve ever paid for, and worth every penny.
