I think it's funny when I can hear the funky guitar loops in many different youtube videos as soundtracks that people have assembled for themselves using GarageBand. maybe apple got it right, with a logic like the following: "because succeeding on your own as a musician is extremely hard, let's make it as accessible as possible so people can feel like musicians without really being one" (imnsho). All the warm fuzzies and none of the talent!

I think so many people today want to be a musician and then get all caught up in themselves, and eventually crash their dream into the reality they've been neglecting. The era of inept (yet sexually appealing) musicians has been upon us for a long while now, it's just changing to fit the newer generations. Or maybe I'm just being negative right now. Call me uninspired by 90% of the latest music out, but that's my take on things.

GarageBand is a fun tool. At times, it seems more like a toy than anything else though...

This is great. But it makes more fun to collaborate with other Garageband composers or musicians to go for real good songs and even publish the new songs. This site will do:

Heya guys, just to give a pep talk to anyone who read this but didn't believe it - it really is this easy. I've been in and out of bands and music studios for the last ten or so years and seen some horrendously complicated set ups.

garageband does exactly what it says on the tin - all you gotta do, is play with it for ten minutes - i bet you'll fall in love with it.

I've used cubase SX 2/3, pro tools, logic, and a good few audio editors for projects but garageband is so easy to pick up but flexible at the same time. if you want to see what can be done with it check out my myspace - from oct-dec last year i put together a whole album using nothing but my guitar and my macbook.

top writing, great tutorial, keep spreading the word!
