used a matte MBP for almost 2 weeks and exchanged it for a glossy display. I couldn’t ignore the good looks of a glossy screen.

Glossy displays are gorgeous. Video, photos, games…web browsing…everything looks incredible on glossy displays. I used a matte MBP for almost 2 weeks and exchanged it for a glossy display. I couldn’t ignore the good looks of a glossy screen.

Video looks amazing on my MacBook’s glossy screen. Reflections aren’t too big a problem. I only have trouble seeing the screen outside when its really bright.

I’ve actually just order a 22-inch glossy screen monitor for my desktop PC. Looks great for games!

I sure don’t feel great now, that for the amatuer photography work that I do, I have to skip the new iMac altogether because of the glossy screen.

Let’s not forget that glass can be made to be matte also. The durability of glass and low reflections. You have been able to buy such things for professional framing of art and photography for years. So Apple could make a switch to glass in the ACD easily, without us having to stare at ourselves in the reflection. I agree HDMI has to be in there as well as far more competitive contrast ratios. Samsung is at 1000:1 on their 30 inch, ACD is 700:1 That has a huge impact in graphics and photography.

I too was and am one of those who were just about to buy a 24″ as a workstation for home. I surely won’t shell out 1.000 extra for the big Mac + Cinema Display. Or will I? Right know I am waiting and hoping for a matte iMac.

Its obvious that cinema displays should be updated soon, what do you think on chances of having 30″+ screen? 36″? More?

I think its just impossible not having mate as (at least) an option for Cinema.

I’m completely guessing here, but I’m now thinking they may wait to update the Mac Pro line up at the same time as the Cinema Displays. I really hope they don’t wait till January to do this.

I realise Apple’s main sources of profit are the ipod, iphones and macbooks, but to completely neglect the professional community like this is a tad ridiculous.
