used to use a program called Cool Edit to do this kind of work as well as other audio editing things. I’m not even sure if it’s around anymore. This was a long time ago….

Although I didn’t mention it in the review, Download Wizard does download acceleration as well.

And as Chris said, most resume OK; that’s not really the issue, but the lack of effective management for downloads is what irks me!

All the major browsers can resume downloads now.

If you want a download accelerator, Speed Download seems to be fairly well-received.

Good review. I’m n00b Mac user, coming from a Windows background, where I also had to use download managers because none of the ‘big’ browsers had decent download managing features, and probably the best (though spyware ridden) tool for the job was Download Accelerator Pro. That program could also boost your download speed by making multiple connections, and I always at least had the impression files were coming down blazingly fast. Does Download Wizard have a feature like that?

Oh and out of curiosity, which browser did you use to use that could resume downloads? `i’m just asking because back in the day I’ve wasted countless hours on dialup trying to find one :)

Actually, though there's no GUI for it, Camino and Firefox allow you to set the number of simultaneous connections in the prefs.js file. More info on that at Preferential(mozdev.org). cl
