So wait, does this mean that your car's locks and ignition are connected to the Internet? How does that work, exactly -- who's the network provider? What security measures prevent this from being hacked? What are your option of the network provider decides to cut off service?

While home automation may seem like a luxury (sadly priced accordingly) it is in fact very important for people with disabilities. The ability to set the room temperature, turn on a light or unlock the front door for a guest is really a basic requirement for independence.

Just as the iPhone has ushered in truly affordable AAC devices with programs like Proloquo2go (think talking aloud via iPhone) I hope home automation can really make independent living truly affordable.
AAC devices cost upwards of 3 to 8 thousand dollars, now it is only $189 with an iPod! Think what should happen to home automation prices!
