Let’s put this in perspective: at the grocery store you’ve spent $50 on food that you deliberately turn to poop. You purchase worthless stuff a Home Depot type store then throw some of it away; you put $50 in the gas tank then burned it up. Again you’re so dad-burned entitled to nothing.

If Bento 2 cost the same as FMP then I’d say “well, maybe you have a beef” but, gosh-darn $50 for version 2 doesn’t entitled you to a price cut. Ya’ll, truly I hope you don’t breed…

I’ve found this program far easier to use than Access, totally useful for managing 500 clients and their staffs, and worth every dime. I’ll buy the up versions if they are worth it. (Like I won’t buy ANY Quicken versions for Mac…)

If you want total full functionality, buy Filemaker. If you want an adequate database program an average user can handle, buy Bento… for a mere $49.

Apple doesn’t offer upgrade pricing on iLife, iWork, QuickTime Pro and other software in the same price range, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise to people that the upgrade path is a full-price license.

What FileMaker should have done is release this update as 1.5, make it free to 1.0 users, and continue to build the user base. 2.0 could come out next year with better iWork integration or some other significant feature that would warrant a 2.0 designation. In the meantime, the community would grow through the Bento Template Exchange and new users brought in with the improved features.

No upgrade price but a free upgrade. I paid $99 for the family version. There were few updates of value and bugs that were not fixed. I think Apple should take over Bento and include it in iWork. Then it might be worth a full price update due to all the changes that would be made to iWork. The pricing is not like Apple. This is a single application.

how version 1.0v2 will be left somewhat incomplete. The last update was in Feb. Anyone still have issues with this version?

Also your review contained the following “Bento 2.0 is a good upgrade…”. As there was no upgrade offered to most if any registered owners I think that this statement is false. Please an explanation or retraction.

Also $10 off is still a joke. I think that users paid $50 for a beta, developed their own user communities, put forward development contributions to FM, stuck with at times a frustrating app, and have know been asked to join the queue with the newbies for round two of funding. In my opinion an apology and free upgrade would by the only face saving outcome..
