@Wendy I know this is a very late answer but to reinstall iChat in Leopard:

1. Insert your Leopard Install DVD.
2. Open the Optional Installs folder and then double click on the Optional Installs.mpkg.
3. Accept all the terms and eventually you'll be presented with a menu.
4. Uncheck all the boxes you can in the menu.
5. Expand Applications and check the box next to iChat.
5. Click continue and iChat should be back.

Run software update when you're done to get the newest revision o f iChat.

This will reveal my ignorance, but here goes. I have iChat (10.5.6) and a MobileMe account. I want to video conference with a friend in Dubai. Must they also have a MobileMe account (I realise you can have a MobileMe account with Windows or a Mac)? Or can a MobileMe subscriber talk to a Google Talk subscriber, for example?

Excellent article.

Nice article.

I'd like to put in a good word for Chax, an iChat add-on that adds some nice features. For example, a single window to show all contacts that can also automatically re-size as buddies come and go, auto-accept various invitations, and more. It's nice, it's free (donations OK), and recommended.
