You don't need a semi-portable tablet with limited battery life to read comics. You may find yourself actually reading less with a device like that. I read comics on a secondary 24" HP monitor in portrait orientation on a iMac. I can tell you that reading a page bigger than a comic or GN page is a joy. On a device whose screen is at best the same size and possibly a bit smaller, I don't think it's going to be much fun. Companies will start having to pay attention to highlights in shadows and illegible text on strange colors in order to make the experience better, perhaps like LightRooming or Photoshopping a photo for best screen clarity. If they expect to shovel something onto readers then it isn't going to work. I wonder what the screen gamma of these devices is and whether it will be consistent across readers?

Comics (better Graphic Novels, no one in Europe is reading comic series) are still cool with dead tree, but it would be a good addition to digital readers.

I hope the tablet is not only for media, also for productivity.

I still can't visualize the tablet in my mind. GUI, hardware design and the benefits it's bringing.

Cool thing is LongBox realizes this. I just hope the manufacturers and publishers do.

I agree with everything you said. I think that the tablet is really going to take over what was the book/notebook/textbook/newspaper/magazine/comic industry. iTunes is really starting to control all purchase of content. It's starting to really make me believe the rumors that iTunes may become the next Paypal.
