I think the new wireless keyboard (and wired) is awesome. It makes sense to me. Use the same layout at your desk and on your notebook. I am typing this on the wired version and it is awesome. It is soooo comfortable. Way to go Apple!

I agree with these guys;

#7 David says:
For me, the wireless keyboard will be easier on my shoulder because I can move the mouse in a better position. I’ll take it."

28 Jared Christensen says:
I’m happy to see the number pad go. With my current keyboard the pad is right where my mouse needs to sit. I’m constantly having to move my keyboard over to use my mouse and then back over to type. I find my self typing while leaning to the left a lot. How about a numeric pad on the left side?

A numeric keypad is a pain in the butt. Or shoulder and arm, as the case may be.I much prefer to have my mouse where the keypad would be, and love my MacBook Pro for that very reason.

I do agree, however, that both keyboards should be offered in wired and unwired versions. I personally dislike wireless peripherals, even using a USB mouse with my laptop, and if I was using a desktop computer rather than a laptop, I'd like to be able to use a wired keyboard, and one that doesn't have the number pad. An optional wired numberpad would be useful to get for those times when I was doing a lot of data entry, but I use a mouse far and away more often than number pads, and prefer the ergonomic plusses that come with not having the number pad in the way.

Why do you need it when you are a foot away from the plug anyway?

Extra revenue!! Would it surprise anyone if 6 months down the road an add-on keypad came out for the truncated keyboard? or maybe a wireless keyboard with the number pad later so that those who jumped on the wireless w/o will then rebuy the wireless with?

This is Apple - I love em, but they have a habit of releasing a mostly great product with a small issue or two (how long did they wait till everyone had bought a wired mighty mouse before releasing a wireless version?) so that people will spend money on both at some time or another. They're in it for money, and I imagine that's a revenue plan for them...

it is very nice looking, I just never understood why anyone would want their computer build into their monitor. The shelf life of a monitor is a lot longer than a computer, seems like a giant was of money from the consumers standpoint (while being genius in an evil way from apples). Forcing you to buy a new monitor every time you want a new desktop.

Thats why I would probably never buy an imac. I want a mac that specs like an imac but has no monitor.
