The Apple netbook will be a larger iPhone with a virtual keyboard and a lot of touch gestures. That is just about everyone’s speculation. Guaranteed it will be something new and different that will blow the netbook companies (Acer, etc.) away.

Apple’s top execs (Cook, Schiller, Oppenheimer) actually meet with analysts are on regular basis. They almost never provide any info that wasn’t previously provided by Jobs or at a earnings conference call.

Re netbooks, the “ideas” line is nothing new; it’s just further confirmation that nothing has changed. Jobs said it, I believe, at the unibody intro: (paraphrasing) “netbooks are a nascent market that we’re watching; we have some ideas about it.”
