Why can you make some songs from itunes ringtones but not others? I have to buy the song that I already have and then when I right click to create ringtone, it tells me that that song can no longer be a ringtone…..whats up with that? Can anybody help?

custom ringtones work great but ho do u erase the ones u don’t want later?

Apple will be releasing the ability at some point, it just didn’t make it into release day. This hack gives you the ability to have custom tones until Apple releases that update.

I wonder if this is just an AT&T thing? To my knowledge, Cingular didn’t lock down their phones as verizon is notorious for. I’ll be really disappointed if they wind up doing that across all phones.

What?! You can’t put your own ringtones on an iPhone without hacking it?? That fooking sucks balls. Talk about blood sucking phone companies. Sheesh!

I have tried this and the steps were really simple and easy to follow and it worked like a charm! I love it! I added some ring tones and replaced the Event Reminder sound and my iPhone still works perfectly. I would give it a try, I think the disclaimer was just to cover their butts. If something does go wrong you can do a restore from iTunes.
