Cisco has released VPN Client 4.6.3 to address the Tiger incompatibilities:

http://weblog.infoworld.com/railsback/archives/001385.html

Unfortunately, Apple has yet to release a fixed version of Mail.app that un-does the brain damage in 10.3.9's Mail.app and (especially) in Tiger's Mail.app 2.0, whether in respect to .Mac or (the much larger problem) to IMAP servers (see the Mail.app discussions/report on MacInTouch). I am leaving my home PowerBook at 10.3.8 until these heinous problems are fixed.

Damn right about checking for incompatibilities - it's the most important thing. I have a friend waiting to upgrade his Mac mini, but his Speedtouch 330 ADSL modem won't work with Tiger - we were able to check/confirm this on my machine first.

Fortunately these days, we have Google - a brilliant resource now for checking to see if anyone else is having the same problems and, with any luck, a possible solution. (For anyone wondering about the Speedtouch 330, reports suggest that an updated driver is on the way.)

iTunes doesn't recognize all of the songs on my hard drive -- copied to an external drive when i did a clean install, then copied back on.

There's no rhyme or reason that I can figure out -- same format, same files, and i've added them to the library, or tried to open them from the finder; it recognizes the m4a files as iTunes files, but it won't play them.

Some of them are even from the same album -- all loaded at the same time, but it'll play songs 1,2,3, and 5 but not 4 or 7 of the album.

I have NO idea what to do.

Dantz has an update for Retrospect now that fixes the permissions problem on Startup Items and RetroRun (which Retrospect changed when it launched). About the only major problem I had with the 10.4 upgrade (I did archive & install) was one mail folder. It would get to a certain point in the conversion and just sit there spinning. Since I have all the messages for that folder on another machine, I just threw it out and then Mail was able to finished converting all the other folders.
