This month Apple will start selling T-Mobile smartphone plans as well as AT&T prepaid plans in its stores as an option for customers who buy an unlocked iPhone, according to a new report from 9to5Mac.

While Apple for a while has been activating AT&T, Verizon and Sprint iPhones with contracts in store, T-Mobile was always an exception since it no longer offers contracts. Apple today will sell you an unlocked iPhone with a T-Mobile SIM, but you have to sign up for service separately with T-Mobile.

According to 9to5Mac, Apple is making a larger prepaid push to drive more iPhone purchases through its stores, where it can upsell customers on other Apple products and accessories. Apple will sell T-Mobile regular Simple Choice plans and AT&T’s GoPhone prepaid activation kits, 9to5Mac reported.

  1. Apple is always on the move.

  2. Apple is in trouble, scrambling, following, not innovating, speculating….the starship engine is unstable…the company is “just ducky” (calm on the surface but paddling like heck underbeath)….because they know they only have a pair of 3s in the poker game…..theyve got nada

    1. I guess they are struggling. Except everywhere i look i see apple. Watch tech demos on youtube? Mac. Shows on PBC? Mac Stories about tech companies? Mac. TV shows? Mac.

  3. Good news for my wife. Her iPhone 4 goes EOL, this autumn with iOS8.

    so?

they’re finally doing what many other retailers have done for years…

  5. Problem is that the iPhone 5c/s or older iPhone’s data network is NOT made for TMobile’s data network. It’ll work but will be VERY slow as the iPhones are optimized for ATT’s data network!

The phone portion will work but you’ll have major data issues with using the iPhone on Tmobile’s EDGE or 3G network, that is, until Apple makes the iPhone Compatible with TMobile’s data network!

    1. Completely untrue, it fully supports Tmobiles GSM, UMTS and LTE bands, you shouldn’t post false information.

      1. Maybe Apple fixed it for TMo when it was “officially” released for TMo but you can not use ATT’s iPhones on TMo’s data network.

I’ve tried and know many that tried to bring over ATT’s iPhone over to TMo with NO success which is why many stayed with ATT!

Ask others about THEIR experiences before saying SH#T!!
Go online and read others’ experiences as well!

        D@MN Apple fanboy/lover!

  6. They are finally doing in the US what the rest of the world does… good job…
