Summary:

Google is having some Monday troubles, as Hangouts, Google Talk and Drive are down for many users.

Mondays are never great, but today’s been especially difficult: Google’s primary suite of communication and collaboration tools — Hangouts and Google Talk — have been inexplicably down since around 9 am PDT.

Users began reporting hiccups and error messages in Google Hangouts (also known by its old name, “Gchat”) and VoIP service Google Talk as well as the inability to access Drive, on Monday morning.Google has since pinpointed the issue in Drive to a Drive subset called “Google Sheets.” Google acknowledged all of  the issues on its Apps Status Dashboard, noting that the company was “looking into it.”

At 11:15 am PDT, the company said in both the Google Talk and Google Hangouts status page “service has already been restored for some users, and we expect a resolution for all users in the near future. Please note this time frame is an estimate and may change.”

As of 11:45 am PDT, the issue with Google Sheets has been resolved, with the company stating, “We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support. Please rest assured that system reliability is a top priority at Google, and we are making continuous improvements to make our systems better.”

Update: As of 12:30 pm PDT, Google stated all issues with Google Talk and Google Hangouts appear to be resolved.
