Former U.S. Secretary of State and retired four-star general Colin Powell is now Salesforce.com’s 11th board member. Neither board membership nor technology is new to Powell who is a director at Bloom Energy and a strategic limited partner at VC firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. Powell served as Secretary of State under President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2005 and served in the U.S. Army for 35 years.

  1. IDK, as a general I have always thought that Gen. Powell was a bit overrated. Don’t get me wrong, as a person, he blows someone like me away with his intelligence, abilities, etc. But compared to his peers, nothing really sticks out as overly impressive.

But he is respected, understands Washington, and is politically savvy, maybe a good choice for SalesForce depending on how they use him.
