If you’re looking to get a 16GB black Nexus 5 directly from Google, you’re out of luck. Google Play shows the phone is currently out of stock.

The Nexus 5 is selling like hotcakes. At least it appears to be, given the lengthy wait times for every model available. And it looks like the 16GB black model  is the most popular, as Google Play is out of stock completely.

If you try to buy that model, the site currently reads, “We are out of inventory. Please check back soon.” It isn’t clear exactly how soon to check back, but the wait times for the other models is not promising. Here’s a quick breakdown of Nexus 5 availability from Google Play as of Tuesday morning:

  • 16GB black: Out of inventory
  • 32GB black: 2-3 weeks
  • 16GB white: 4-5 weeks
  • 32GB white: November 26

So if the 16GB black Nexus 5 is currently out of stock, I imagine it must take a little more than the estimated 4-5 weeks shipping time listed for the 16GB white model to replenish it.

If you had your heart set on that model, you can still try buying it directly from Sprint or T-Mobile when it becomes available, though you’ll also be paying $100 more than purchasing the phone through the Google Play store.

  1. This makes sense – judging from the reviews most bloggers are preferring the black as it makes the “nexus” logo on the back really pop!

  2. It still is debatable whether or not they are selling like hotcakes (I hope they are! I think this is a fantastic phone!) because being sold out doesn’t necessarily mean that they have been selling well. It could just mean that Google didn’t have enough manufactured. I guess we will have to wait for the figures to judge that. Good luck to the Nexus 5 though!!

    1. oh it’s fantastic!, IM one of the lucky ones that was able to get my hands on it 😊. I recommend it
