The BlackBerry Messenger app is coming back to the Apple App Store and Google Play today, but if you haven’t already registered signed up to use it, you’ll have to wait in line.

BBM is back, for some. BlackBerry on Monday announced that its BBM app for iOS and Android devices will be making its way back into the Apple App Store and Google Play later today. If you’ve already signed up to use the app on bbm.com you’ll be good to go. But if you haven’t, you’ll need to download the app and enter your email address, then wait in line.

The app isn’t showing up yet in either app store for me, but BlackBerry says it should start to appear “in the next few hours.” If you aren’t one of the six million people to have already signed up for more information about the BBM app, you’ll still be able to download it when it appears later today – you just won’t be able to do anything with it.

This is somewhat frustrating, especially since BlackBerry already released the app late last month, then pulled it almost immediately, citing the early leak of an Android app that caused unexpected issues. According to BlackBerry, it is using a wait list for the app to help manage “unprecedented pent up demand.”

So if you download the app and don’t yet have access to use it, you can open it and enter your email address to hold your place in line. BlackBerry says it will email you as soon as you reach the front of the line, but it doesn’t give a timeline for how long that will take.
