Summary:

A new report from the Wall Street Journal suggests that HTC is ready to introduce its One Max “phablet” at an event next week.

In case there was any doubt after leaks galore, a report on Tuesday from the Wall Street Journal all but confirms that HTC is ready to take the wraps off of the HTC One Max on October 15. The report says to expect a 5.9-inch display as well as an integrated fingerprint scanner.

It is still unclear how this fingerprint sensor will be used. I like Apple’s use of Touch ID on the iPhone 5s for entering passwords and unlocking the phone, but fingerprint sensors are still relatively new to smartphones so it’ll be interesting to see other uses employed.

The WSJ report doesn’t mention a price or release date, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a $299.99 on-contract price like Samsung’s 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 3. Either way, it looks like we should all the details for sure in one week’s time.
