Bloomberg has a story tracing the journey of the iPhone, from its assembly in China to the occasional journey on Russian transporter planes to, eventually, your local Apple store. The entire operation is meticulously planned out months in advance, forecasting how many devices are expected to sell and getting the components to assembly plants in China. From there it is shipped around the world in everything from Boeing 777s to military transport aircrafts. According to chairman of the Transportation Marketing and Communications Association Richard Metzler “It’s like a movie premiere… It all needs to arrive at the exact same time everywhere.”
